PDAO Sponsors Gala for Children’s Safety Center
A big event is taking place Friday, and it’s a chance to raise money for a great local charity for children. Not only that, but Pediatric Dental Associates and Orthodontics is a sponsor. The Children’s Safety Center is the only facility of its kind located in Washington County. Staff there provide services for victims of child abuse. The facility has trained forensic interviewers on staff and it’s been open for 23 years. They see infants through 17 years of age. In 2019, the Children’s Safety Center saw more than 800 kids. But all the great services this facility provides for the community require funding because the Children’s Safety Center is a nonprofit.
On average, the cost of care per kid at the Children’s Safety Center is around $1,600. The facility doesn’t bill insurance, so every single service is free, from forensic interviews to medical exams. Friday is the 13th annual Dream Big Gala, and it’s virtual this year. Normally the event is at the Fayetteville Town Center. It’s the largest fundraiser of the year, and despite the pandemic, there was no talk of cancelling this one. Last year, the Children’s Safety Center raised $200,000. Those unrestricted funds can be allocated toward top needs for the facility. This year’s Dream Big Gala starts at 7 p.m., with the pre-reel beginning at 6:45 p.m.
To see the event and updates, be sure to like the Children’s Safety Center on Facebook here. This will help provide notifications for the event on Friday. The whole program this year will be about 30-40 minutes in a live video. It’s a family friendly event, so get your kids, and watch it. The video will dive into different programs of the center. It’ll include chances for donations and an auction. There will also be live music.
A second fundraiser will be held this year in conjunction with the gala. It’ll be a pie in the face. Four community members, including a Springdale teacher, the Washington County prosecutor, and more have volunteered to be hit in the face with a pie. If each group reaches their fundraising goal, viewers will see them each get a pie to the face.
The online auction has over 100 packages to bid on. There’s really fun things for kids like Power Wheels, a Barbie camper, a tractor, bicycles and more. The auction also includes goodies like a Samsung television, a Samsung sound bar, a six-day stay in Italy, and more.
It’ll be a fantastic event, and Pediatric Dental Associates and Orthodontics is proud to be a sponsor.
